Do you pack lunch for someone else in your family?
What special touches do you like to include?

Barb, I am so glad you started this thread.
I have been making fried bologna and fried egg sandwiches to see if I thought they would be good in my lunches for school. They are terrific. I add a little mayo to them.
I keep those little bags of blue ice and an ice chest. I also have a little cooler that has straps so that I can carry my lunch and keep it cold. I also has a wide-mouth thermos for days when I want to eat something hot like stew.
Some of the other things I like are:
Tuna salad sandwiches, chips
Spam salad sandwiches with cherry peppers and chips
Salads are always good as I can add chicken, cheese, boiled egg, etc...
I'll have to come back and post more when I remember them.

Today I put a Hershey Kiss in my kids' lunchboxes, with their regular lunch.
They are too big to get notes (well, maybe DD is not but definitely Big DS is!) but I figure I can put in a Hershey Kiss as a little surprise. No one will tease them for having a piece of chocolate. DS's friends might try to steal it when he isn't looking, though :D

When my DS was in kindergarten and 1st grade, I did something wonderful with his lunches that made him THE most popular kid in the lunch room. I bought sheets and sheets of stickers. I packed his lunch in a brown paper bag, wrote his name in a Sharpie, and then decorate the bag with the stickers. Everybody wanted to sit with Adam on the days be brought his lunch. He managed to peel those stickers off his bag and give each person that he could a sticker. I found out from the teachers how popular he was on those days. She told me the kids would actually argue over who would sit with Adam during lunch. lol I mean, he was outgoing anyway and everybody liked him, but those days he was REALLY liked. lol
For Valentine or another holiday I will decorate the sack up to go along the theme of that holiday.
I've also added stickers to a normal day lunch
I've also spelled thier names out in colorful markers, sometimes even coloring the name in... I once even used the glitter glue to write the name out for my gd..

I write notes to my son on one side of his napkin. He says that some of the kids in his class tease him--which I explained that they were probably sad that their parents don't do that for them. I asked him if he wanted me to stop and he said "Heck No! I love them!"
I also print out kids' jokes, cut them into strips of paper and then fold them up into little pieces. I "sprinkle" 5 or 6 into his lunchbox for him to find. :)

Tami, I thought at one point that my DS was getting too old for lunchbox jokes. Then I found out that all his friends would crowd him at the table to see the joke of the day! :D
Now, he IS too old....I save the jokes to send him in emails.
