View Full Version : Homemade No Salt Seasoning

5 tsp onion powder
1 tbsp garlic powder
1 tbsp paprika
1 tbsp ground mustard
1 tsp dried thyme
1/2 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp celery seed
Combine all ingredients and store in an airtight container. This can be used to season lots of different things as you cook.

This sounds great! I often sprinkle a few of these very things over foods that I'm cooking and never really thought to just make my own mix! I'm thinking of all kinds of things this would be good with, starting with homemade pizza!

Back when DH and I both had to cut back on salt this and several other mixes helped a lot; we soon didn't miss the salt at all!

I'm sure that recipe is cheaper to make than to buy pre-made. The thing I like about recipes like that is that you can modify it to your tastes. If you like more garlic, add more garlic; don't like celery seed, leave it out. Thanks for sharing!

I think it would benefit most people to cut down on the sodium intake,
absolutely! One thing to be careful of, though... make sure you're using
celery seed and not celery salt like I almost ended up doing... that would
defeat the purpose. Unfortunately, my spice rack has the salt and not
seed.

I had someone once do that same thing with garlic powder vs. garlic salt! LOL
