1 pint grape or cherry tomatoes
1/2 c pepper-flavored vodka
3 T coarse sea salt
1 T lemon pepper

Prick each tomato 5 or 6 times with a skewer. Place the tomatoes in a small bowl and pour the vodka over them. Soak the tomatoes in the vodka, stirring occasionally, for 2 hours. Much longer than 2 hours and they go mushy.

To serve: place the tomatoes in a serving bowl. In a separate small bowl, combine the salt and seasoned pepper. Serve the tomatoes with toothpicks and the salt mixture on the side. To make them and take them, assemble them in a plastic container with a tight-fitting lid and chill. At the event, transfer to a serving container and serve with toothpicks. The tomatoes are very tasty soaked in just the vodka, but you also can add a splash each of lemon juice, dry sherry, Tabasco sauce and Worcestershire sauce, plus a sprinkling of celery seeds. The result is akin to bite-size Bloody Mary’s. Serves 8.
