We dig up some big roots and keep it on the kitchen counter and scrape off some into the water when we want the tea. If you don't have a place to dig up the root you can usually buy some at any health food store.
1 cup Sassafras root, dried or fresh (if roots are fesh remove root bark)
1/3 cup sugar
2 1/2 cups water
Place roots in s saucepan and cover with water and bring to a boil. When water has turned a rich brown color remove from the heat and strain. Add sugar and serve. Serves 2:)
