Good Morning all, Cat I 'm not sure where in Indiana you are but I'm about 60 miles south of Chicago, close to Kankakee and we are sending reainto southern Indiana but on the good side 60's by Wednesday. Dh saw some green poking out this A.M. when taking out the garbage. Spring is coming. The bad part of the time change is the kids getting out in the dark. My dd is having a much harder time getting herself out and Cass up in the mornings. It is not getting light until 7 or so. Luckily Cass doesn't get the bus until 7:45 and it is light by then. Tell Audrey I think she is smart to break in her boots. Wild Hogs sounds funny , I am the one who cannot sit that long anymore but I love comedies. Have a super day

hi Cau! It is 64 already here ,it is cloudly as there is a chance of rain the next four days but suppose to be pretty this weekend.Audrey got second-hand army boots so they are already broke in but look like new.She say the only thing is that they are heavy but the way she is wearing them she should be used to them by the hike. She wore them to school today lol. Have a grand day!

Nell, I remember 100 years ago when I finally got some go-go boots that I had been wanting for a long time! I wore them day and night until I wore them out. They are still dear to my heart to this day. I am glad that Audrey is enjoying them so much. Sometimes it is the simplist things that mean so much. Nell, you said you think it will be June before you know it. I wish it were June as I would be out of school. I am so tired of school and am ready to be out. Summer break can't get here soon enough.

Cau, I am not too fond of the time change either. My body is still trying to adjust.

Cat, I hope the weather isn't too bad where you are. I haven't even heard of Wild Hogs. I guess being in school with my nose in my books all day means that I don't get around. lol

Well, DH took me out to breakfast today. We went to the courthouse to harrass my old advisor, who is the judge there, but he is gone this week. I think he is on a criminal justice trip with students. Then, we went to the school and harassed people there as their Spring Break doesn't start until next week. DH will soon leave to get the GKs. Then, I will be more free to study for my next exam! I am really having a difficult time motivating myself to study. lol I hope everyone is having a great day!

Cau, we got your rain! LOL We are 30 miles west of Corydon, IN, 5 miles from Patoka Lake, 30 miles from Jasper, IN, or 1 1/2 hours from Indy. Can you figure me out from those? LOL We have had some green for close to a week, and I noticed yesterday the redbuds and poplar trees are ready to burst open. Vines are already vining and creeping up other things.

I've gotten my broccoli planted yesterday, green onions are popping up, sugar snap peas are breaking ground. Kale seeds palnted and rhubarb is poking through the ground. I'm sure I'll notice something new each day now.

Sweetnell, Audrey will still want to break those shoes in for her feet so they don't cause her much problem on that hike. Sounds like it will really be fun!
Think I'm going to have to make a pot of coffee, now that I've seen that nice pot full! LOL

DeBora, good luck on getting to those books! I'm sure with the weather changing it is going to be harder to stay with them, but at least school will be out before you know it! They added some more foods to that cat and dog recall today. You might want to recheck the links. But they also said it did not include any dry food.

Have a good evening!

Cat, thanks for information about the pet food.

Nell, thanks for the adorable ecard. I don't know where you find such precious ecards. I hope Audrey is adjusting okay to back-to-school. I know that first day back is tough. The only thing I miss is working at the mental health clinic. I so enjoy working with the people there.

Well, I need to get back to studying. The GKs will be in soon and I will have a difficult time studying. lol

DH just got his vehicle back. It cost just under $1,700! Oh my! I told him that he really needs to look for a replacement vehicle since he travels so much to see me. He wants to worry about it later. I do believe that he is the ultimate procrastinator.

I am killing time while the GKs sleep, but I really should be studying. I think I will catch up on a few more emails and do just that. DD will be here in about 5 hours or so. She and I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow and I need to take Bonte to the Vet tomorrow to see if there is anything I can do about his car sickness.

I hope everyone is doing well.

I believe that it has hit me. Eventhough I really don't like to do it. I woke up this morning around 6:00am. Took my bath and got ready to start cleaning. I love Spring so I really don't mind and I guess with a 3 month old baby it was probably time. The house has been a wreck.

03-22-2007, 10:28 AM
gabsmom123 at least the baby is a good excuse. I I just can't find the time to clean, now I of course love a clean house. I was really happy that we only use dry dog food and our was not on the list. We lost our last greyhound to kidney failure and we have only had Star Leaper since August. I think the rain finally stopped, we sent more your way cat.

Hello all! Trying to get some of my computer time in before the next round of storms. Took the neon to get an oil change this morning and back from that.
Worked on the newest chicken pen most of the day yesterday.

I got the spring cleaning mood a couple of days ago, but that mood vanished! LOL I really don't have much spring cleaning to do any longer with just DH and me, pretty much able to keep up with it through the year now.

I love your two last tags sweetenell, yeah those words aren't pleasant! LOL And of course the cat one is always cute! Grey Baby(one of the newest kittens) has started getting into bed with me as soon as I go and cuddling right up to my face and laying her head down and acts like she is trying to nurse on my neck! LOL I'm not sure what her problem is since her and Tiger are both almost 6 months old now. Even with 8 cats every one has their own personality! Luckily two live with BB the beagle outside in a pen!

Storms moving back this way so going to try and check out some more emails before I have to turn this off again. Have a good day!

Gabsmom, I bet your 3-month-old is sweet. It won't be long and he can help you with the spring cleaning.

Nell, I hope your DH enjoys his days off. I probably won't see the movie until after this semster is over.

Cau, sorry that you lost your dog. I lost my Jet-Bo to kidnet failure as well. DGD doesn't understand the concept of death yet. She doesn't know why Nana keeps Jet-Bo's bones in a jar next to bed and in a pendant next to her heart. We use both the dry and the can food. Up until Jet-Bo died, we used only a special renal diet from the vet. Now, we use Mighty Dog for the can food because my dogs are so picky they won't eat any other can food. I forgot what brand the dry pet food is that we use, but I will be checking that when I go back to Las Cruces on Saturday.

Cat, cats do have individual personalities. Prissy is the one who is always playful and wears everyone out. But, Bonte is giving her a taste of her own though. She sure is going to miss Bonte and Bonte is going to miss her when we live.

I finally got the headache to break. I am so, so, sleepy. DD will go home tomorrow with the GKs. I will start enjoying the beginging of my race weekend on Friday with the time trials. I still need to study for my exam and do a better job of it as school starts Monday. I plan on driving back to Cruces after the Busch race on Saturday evening. DH had problems with his battery today. He just spent nearly $1,700 to have it repaired. We are hoping it is just a case that they wore his battery down when they worked on the car and nothing serious.

I have beans in the crockpot and I plan on making some Mexican cornbread for Friday's meal. I also plan on sharing some with Caesar, our neighbor as he loves frijoles as much as I do.

Have a great TGIF!

Hello all! One of DH's sisters and BIL stopped in for a surprise visit. We enjoyed it, but it was so short! I didn't have any supper fixed yet and had no idea of what I was going to fix so they didn't stay.

Cloudy here and had some rain drops off and on most of the day. I need to get my cabbage plants planted this weekend and figure out how I'm going to keep the chickens out of them! LOL

Computer is running real slow so going to clean it up; have a good night!

Cat lover, what about using some "chicken wire" and making a fence around your cabbages? ;) I wonder, though. Are they REALLY going for the cabbages, or are they going for the worms and bugs you've roused when you tilled?

cat lover
03-26-2007, 09:15 PM
They go after the cabbage as well as bugs! I buy whole cabbages at the farmers market for them to eat and they love them. We have lots that are free range, but also three pens and coops of caged chickens and since they don't get the advantage of having all the green they want they get "special" veggies. So as they grow and join the free range chickens they have learned to love cabbage as well as other things! LOL I garden with my veggies in raised beds so wire around them wouldn't be too easy as all the beds are raised. I think I'm going to try some fruit netting laid over the beds in question. I have poultry wire over my raised strawberry beds that work well for those since they grow so close to the ground. Then other raised beds are close enough together I can make rolls of wire and place at the ends of those beds and they stay away from it thinking it is a trap.

Hello all! Up because BB the beagle was barking up a storm! Thought maybe something was after the chickens, but when I got out there found she was barking because a storm was moving in; I could see the lightning from sdo far away I couldn't even hear the thunder yet. Well it is here now, so don;'t know how long I will be able to be online today. Looks like we are in for it most of the day.

Got a new peach tree planted last night; not sure one of the other two made it through the winter. Watch it now; we'll have three!

Hope you all are doing well; DeBora good luck on that exam and sweetenell thanks for the ecards! DH keeps deleting things (he has been messing up on the computer lately); he seems to be having a bad time with the memory more so than usual lately. So not sure what I may be missing! My sister finally got through and asked why I hadn't answered several of heremails; now I know why! LOL

Going to try and answer some more before I have to close, see yeah!

Also have to go down and get today;s mail yet. We didn; eat lunch till 2:30 so looks like supper will be late tonight. Have some marinated chicken breat , baked potatoes and whatever frozen veggie is on top in the freezer. Supposed to go down in the low 50's tonight and they are talking frost maybe one night next week again! Looks like hose veggies are going to live in the greenhouse awhile!

Have a good day!

I am having trouble sleeping, but I am sure it is from the stress and excitement of the day. I will tell you more in a few.

Cat, have you thought about getting some sort of external memory device for your DH? What about password protecting the things on the computer so that your DH cannot delete them? I can not live without an external memory device and I don't have any head injuries. For example, my PDA (electronic datebook) has an alarm set to remind me of things. Several of us got together an hour before class to study. 15 minutes before class, the alarm went off. Everyone asked what that was, I told them we had 15 minutes. lol But, I can also set it to remind me to take medications, call the doctor, return a library book, and so on. Once the alarm goes off, I have to push a button so prevent it from going off again. I can set it to remind me hours before or minutes before an event. I didn't know if this was something that would benefit your DH or not.

Cau, I am glad you got your computer working too. Computers, we can't live with them and we can't live without them. lol

Nell, congrats to Audrey. Tell her that I am proud of her for setting such positive goals for herself and that I am cheering her on so that she will be able to give herself one terrific birthday gift in October.

I received a phone call from my advisor from ACU. I need to ask him a ton of questions I am sure. But, he did say that he was pretty sure that I would get an assisstantship since most of their students do. I told him that I would give him a decision within a week. I started a thread on FC to ask advice in this area. Before I can make a decision between 2 schools, I need to know which offer is the best offer. I emailed a graduate student from my school to ask him a few questions since he is from Texas originally and he used to be a clinical psychologist. He gave me some terrific advice. It is looking like Abilene may win, which will make my DS happy as he only lives less than 3 hours from there. But, it will be too far from my DH for me. I am still going to ask for more information before I make my final decision.

Today I have to write a paper, turn in paperwork, write and print-out my group lesson plans for PSI (mental health clinic) and catch up on the lecture from my other class. But, I can do that on my own schedule and nobody elses. lol

The biggest problem is that his memory comes and goes; sometimes you wouldn't know there is a problem and other times it is really out there in front! And of course when it is "here" he takes offense to needing help most of the time; just depends on his general mood of the hour. So for the time being as long as it isn't something that can harm anything I just try to deal with it the best I can. But thanks for the sugestion; who knows when I will need to do something.

Going to take all the recycle items to the center today before our next three days of rain start; hope the weather people are wrong on that! I do have plenty indoors to do, but the outside is needing more attention now that the weather is breaking.

Hope everyone is doing okay today and ready for something fun for the weekend! Have a good day all!

Audrey excited about it? So much to think about. I know when my DH came home one day years ago and said we would be moving for his job I was really upset, but it turned out to be an adventure! Cat we have been wanting to make a change so yes I'm kinda excited but also a little worry about moving away.Audrey has mixed feelings about it.Ds may stay here since he has a job plus we own this house & a lot uptown that has his travel trailer o it plus he has a friend that will be coming back here after he gets out of the service & want ds & himself to share a place plus he has other friends that could share with the bills & whatever. Dh feels he should find out something in a week or so for sure about this one position. So it could be quick or it may be a while. But keep you updated whatever happens.I'm to stay with mom the 2nd week of June & Audrey has the youth trek the 22 of June .Hope everyone is having a good evening! Love the little pioneer tag! I at many times would love to live back inthe "simpler" times, but with my health I don't think I would still be here! LOL I guess we have as about as much "pioneer" life that we can handle here in the woods. I am so glad we moved into this house as we did, with no running water inside or even any fixtures for it! LOL ANd we had a 220 plug for the dryer ( but I couldn't wash the clothes); and two 110 plugs in the whole house. It was interesting considering it was November and we didn't even get our septic till January! ANd that was just the tank no lateral field till that spring. It was interesting hauling water from a hand pump, heating it on the wood stove for anything and using flashlights to see. When the bathroom actually got installed it just didnt see right! LOL That was because there were no walls yet except the four outside walls of the log honme. I wouldn't trade those experiences though for anything; just glad we did them when we did.

Cloudy here today and supposed to get storms here tonight. I think I'm going to hang out the clothes and hope the rain does stay away till tonight. So better get busy.

Hope everyone has a good day!

Well, I am still waiting on word from ACU as to whether or not I will be getting an assistantship to pay for my tuition and books. If so, I will be going to Abilene. Cat, I hope the weather doesn't get too bad where you are.

Nell, well in August, I am planning to be moving to either Abilene or Odessa. If you transfer close to me, maybe we can meet up sometime! I am hoping that I will know this week if I will be going to Abilene.

I just finished listening to two tedious lectures from last week. It was over custody cases. I was too busy studying for my exam to go back over the audio and get all the little details. The teacher is thorough in his exams. Several of us plan on getting together to check out each other's notes and study together. I barely survived last week. At this point, I am counting down until May 12th, when I graduate!

We had a bad storm late last night, at last the thunder and lightning were bad. We didn't loose any power though. I haven't been out to see if we lost any trees yet, will wait till daylight to check that out. With the high winds and hard ains it wouldn't surprise me to see a tree or two down.

Was the movie good sweetnell? DH and I don't go to the theater so I always buy the DVD of ones we want to see an most of th time rely on people's view that have seen it in the theater.

Nell, I can't wait to find out where you will move to.

Cat, after I graduate, we will move the RV to Carlsbad to clean it and make repairs and such. We will get it ready for the fall semester. We'll probably make a trip to the school to meet the advisors and teachers and see the campus. Yes, I won't move until closer to when school starts or about a month before. We will need to shop around for a place to move.

Sorry you had a bad storm last time.

Well, DH was going to leave today to go get sil to go fishing in Ruidoso. SIL got sick so they are going to try again tomorrow. The good thing is that DH gets to stay to watch the race with me.

DeBora,I still think it would be fun to live in an RV for awhile and to to be myself for awhile! I just get to stroll over to the cabin once in awhile and read, but I've never gone ahead and stayed overnight. Not sure how DH would do all night by himself! But it is sort of my little get away now! LOL

cau, seems these storms are really all over the place, what part of the country are you in; if you don't mind me asking? The weather last night said this coming weekend we are going to be down in the 20's now! Looks like I may have to get the propane hater out and put it in the greenhouse for a couple of nights! I would hate to lose all those seedlings! And I'll have tpo recover the strawberries and a few other things in the garden. I only havce cool weather crops growing in the raised beds, but that may be too cold for them, not sure!

Have to go out today and get some dog and cat food, almost makes you sick to think of having to buy some now with the recall list getting bigger and bigger. So far I think I have caught everything that we had on hand, but it bothers me to think tomorrow it may be another one!

Cau, that is terrific that you were so close to your cousins. I had a couple that I was close to, but we have grown apart.

Cat, I hope the dog food brands don't reach Mighty Dog, in the can. That is what I feen mine. I also feed mine Happy Tails dry food. I am almost tempted to feed them homemade food. This is frustrating.

Nell, tell Audrey good luck on her test. It sounds like we may both find out something today on where we'll move in the next few months.

Well, another start to another week. I have 5 weeks left of instruction and then finals week, and then graduation. I don't think it can come too soon. It was a bad race yesterday as Bobby's brake broke and he crashed into the wall. It was over 200 laps before they could get it fixed. Plus, next weekend is Easter. I have a 3 day weekend. But, DH will be at work and I won't get to see the GKs. Plus, there is no race either. I am already bumming. Well, I had better finish putting on my make-up, make coffee, eat breakfast, and get ready for work. I work in the research lab this afternoon, and then class tonight. I am already tired. I think we start on children as witnesses tonight.

I hope everyone has a terrific day!

DeBora, I'm not sure, but I thought Mighty Dog something was in the recall, you might check with the web site listed on the food. I am feeding my one dog that is a picky eater people food and dry dog food her one meal; she eats twice a day. I made a big pot of beef stew with meat, carrots and peas, and potatoes and give her 1 cup of that per day with dry dog food mixed in it. The others will eat all dry food all the time and no problem with them and theirs hasn't been on the recall list ----yet! I also supplement them all with soup bones I get at the meat processing plant near us. They are only 70 cents a pound and are full of meat, so they all get one of those a day too. Been luck y on the at food yet, but I also give them chicken and rice that I make. I alwayts buy reduced wings and thighs, cook them and debone them and use the broth to cook rice in and put it is snack size bags and freeze them; just get them out when I need it. I started doing that when one of the cats were sick and the vet told me to feed them that.

Well need to fix DH and me some lunch so have a good day!

If you go to www.fda.org you can get lots of pet food recall info. The last thing I read was that Mighty Dog POUCHES were recalled but NOT CANS.

Thanks for the link to the dog food site. So far our Nutro Low protien dry food has not been on the list butI am worried. Rescued greys need low protien since they had too much when they raced so I have no idea what ratio to make food for him. He is not a big eater but I am worried.
Cat I live in Illinois about 50 miles south of Chicago . I am close to KAnkakee in an old farm community that is becoming a suburb of Chicago way too fast for me. It is sad to see the farm land being sold off.
We went to the pool this Am and I lasted about 35 to 40 min.in the water. I actually walked about 15 mins with no help from anyone or anything. Very Cool! then we did a Sam's run, you just can't beat then for 1 of my allergy meds and myine are starting early. Have a great night all.

Thanks for the link Barb. I used to use the pouches when I first got Bonte because they are easier to store in this little RV. I haven't been able to get them in awhile, and that may be because of the problems the resulted in a recall. So, we have been using the cans. I did notice the pouches were recalled though.

Anyway, I hope everyone is having a terrific day!

Hi all, I've been catching up on reading the posts regarding other particpants moving and I am there with you. Since Dh lost his job last fall, and got a new one 800 miles away, I've been on my own, fixing up the house, getting it ready to sell, and finally, working through all the details of a sale. Whew! It looks like we may be getting close to a closing towards the end of April, and it can't come soon enough. Once I actually got the house on the market (February) things started moving along, but there have been wrinkles in the process, with things I've had to repair or replace that I hadn't even been aware of before. Live and learn, huh? Best wishes to all of you facing relocation of any kind. It's certainly a challenge, but one we hope pays off in the end.

Liz

Hello Ladies! Hope everyone is doing alright & are have great weather! It's a little cooler here than it has been but still pretty. We have decided we will keep the house not sure if we will rent it or if ds may live in it as he cannot decide if he wants to move or stay here,of course we still got time as we're not sure when he'll get transfer. Dh says we will live in an apartment not sure how well that'll go as we have lived mainly in houses,I think he likes the idea of a swimming pool as he & Audery loves to swim lol.Me I like the indoors better lol.Hope everyone has a great day!

Lizzie, good luck with the closing of the house and the move. I know how difficult it is to love away from your DH.

Nell, good luck on the move as well. I am sure living in an apartment will be quite different than living in a house. I too am an indoor girl. lol

I am trying to catch up on emails and posts. Then, I need to get back to my homework and studying. I have a paper to write as well as research and another paper to write. Of course, finals come up on May 3rd and around the 7th or 10th and then I am done!!!! I am still waiting to find out whether or not I will be accepted for an assistantship in Abilene. Then, I will know where I will be going to graduate school.

I hope everyone else is having a good week! The weekend is almost here.

Hello all! DH and I went to Louisville today and did some errands and saw his mom. Tired now, but all the animals are fed andwatered and I just came back from the greenhouse. Had to put some heat in it last night and I turned it on tonight about 7:30 as the outside temp was already 38 degrees then. Will sure be glad when we get back to regular temperatures! Will haveto recheck the grenhouse about midnight so I'm sleeping in sweat suits for awhile(much warmer than a nightgown) walking down there! LOL

Tomorrow we are going to our farm store. DS#2 needs some chain link fence and we can get it there for $38 for a 50 ft roll and in the city they want $150.00 for the same thing! Going to pick up some corner post also for our next out building. Finally getting started on it!

Have a good night all!

Cat , the weather here is cold also. The temp is suppose to be in the 30's but the wind is brutal. We went to the pool this morning. I am happy I was able to walk for 15 min and then spent the next 25 min exerciseing the legs. My dd is going to a back specialist today & wants dh or I to come with for a 2nd set of ears as her dh is working. That pretty much takes up the day.
For Easter I'll cook a ham , my 2 dd that don't live with us will come over and they are going to color eggs. It will be a pretty relaxed day. Tomorrow They are going to a dinner play to celebrate my oldest dd's b-day. Instead of gifts we are trying to create a memory. Happy Easter to all

We went to Jasper today and there was a blizzard there! It luckily didn;t stick to the ground! And then when we got home we had it here too! LOL We used th wood stove last night and have it going right now also. Will keep it going the night and load it up before we go to bed and just let it burn itself out. We're having that blizzard again right now! Seems so funny after 85 degrees last week! Take care and see you all later!

Cat, I hope you had a good trip getting that chain link fence.

Nell, we are supposed to get rain here too. It sounds like everyone got a cold front. A cold front here means it will only get up to 64 degrees. lol

Cathy, what kind of diet are you going on? Good luck with it.

Well, I will be grazing all weekend so that I can spend my time studying for the upcoming finals, write 2 papers, and make sense out the most recent lecture from psychology and the law class. I hope everyone has a terrific Easter.

BRRRR! So much for Global Warming! It is only 40 here and we may see snow flurries tomorrow!

For Easter only my MIL and FIL will be joining us for dinner. We plan to go to church tonight for the Easter Vigil, which is long but beautiful. I will have to go back and play at the noon Mass tomorrow, since I will be needed in the choir. I have been doing a lot of the Easter-dinner prep today. I already made the pie crust for a chocolate-cream pie, made cole slaw and pickled beets, got half the fresh vegetables chopped for the vegetable platter, and the cake is in the oven (Walnut-Spice cake; I posted the recipe in the Recipe Swaps.) Tomorrow morning I will bake the bread and get the ham started before I leave for church. I also plan to make deviled eggs tomorrow.

DH and the kids colored 3 dozen eggs last night. We'll be eating deviled eggs ALL WEEK....

Barbszy, your meal for tomorrow sounds great! Wish I lived close enough to get a sample! LOL

Guess I'll end up looking in the freezer for tomorrow and deciding then what we will have. I bought a low fat ham, but think I'm going to package it for the freezer for later.

Visit today with DS #1 went well and they got to stay quite a while. They had to have one of their dogs put down this morning, so it was good for them all to get away from home awhile today.

Have a good evening and Happy Easter to you all!

LOL I had to laugh sweetnell; since I have so many cats all those in your tag could be mine! I have one (and more) that each look like those.

DH is still in bed asleep so I thought maybe I could catch up on some emails. Having my coffee as I type! Waiting to go out and feed as it is so cold outside; freeze warnings till 11 today! I may have to change the propane tank in the greenhouse today!

Still not sure what we are having to eat today. DS#1 and his "family"
stayed a long time yesterday so we had a nice visit! We have enough leftovers from then so we may just eat those. The only thing I'll need to make would be a dessert DH can eat. Sweetnell your banana puding sounds good, I might do that, but I'll cheat. I think I have a box of banana pudding in the pantry so I may use that as the pudding in it! LOL

Hope everyone has a good day and fun if you are getting to visit!

Happy Easter all, Dd#1 is boiling more eggs to devil. That's her job, I have a little time before I put the ham in. I'm being lazy and making baked potatoes, whites and sweets. We will have brussel sprouts and broccoli as well as jello mold. We are taking it easy as this cold weather is causing my back & leg to flair up. Then the best thing to do is just lay low. Hope everyone has a wonderful day God Bless.:)

Cat, can you believe that I am running the AC today? My DH said it is cold where he is located, so I guess it is going to get warm again.

Nell, thanks for the ecard!

Cau, now you have me hungry for deviled eggs! I love them so much.
