Kitchen Failures

Is there a particular dish or type of food that you've tried to make, but can never succeed?

For me, it's homemade gravy. I just can't get it right.

My failures have to be "Mom's dishes"; MIL's dishes I should explain! Think it just might not be me and just DH?LOL His favorite of hers was Macaroni and Tomaotes; sounds simple and the recipe I was given is simple, but according to DH it "isn't Mom's!" LOL She fixed it and brought it over to him after his accident several years ago and he loved it; she preceded to tell him it was his favorite; so.... that was one "he remmbers?" LOL

I can't make meatballs that my DH and I agree that we both really like. I like them more firm and he likes them soft.

I also cannot make a good pot roast in the oven. I really wish that I could figure this one out!

I cannot make yeast bread to save my life. Last time I tried, we had a very nice doorstop! :eek:

Gravy for sure, I would be lost without the package mixes. I have even screwed up yeast bread in the bread machine, don't ask me how. I can make the basic recipe but any time I try something else it is a bomb. I am actually a pretty good cook on most things. I love to try new things.
