Thanksgiving is next month. What are your plans? What will you be serving?

Since Thanksgiving come right before finals and exams, I will go the easy route. Christmas will be my big meal. DS is coming for Thanksgiving so I will make my chicken and dressing casserole, which is all microwave. I doubt I will have time for my homemade bran rolls, so we'll do brown and serve. I plan on making a salad as well as cranberries, mashed potatoes, and maybe store bought gravy. As always, I will make Rotel queso with tortilla chips. I have made no decisions for dessert yet. I usually get requests for my cream cheese braids, but my DD and her family are doing Thanksgiving with her DH's family this year and we will be getting them for Christmas.

I haven't decided if I will bake a turkey breast or a whole turkey just yet.

For sides, I am planning on HM macaroni and cheese and green beans. I will probably make a side of dressing for DH and me, along with gravy and biscuits for all.

I am not sure about dessert yet. Probably pumpkin pie :)

Every year my parents and sister's families come together for Thanksgiving. Each bring a special dish. Turkey, stuffing, green bean casserole, butternut squash, fruit salad, apple and pumpkin pies and of course mashed potatoes and gravy. Very traditional.

I just found out that my DS will be coming on Tuesday of that week and sometime that week my DD and her family may be coming, so I may have to do more than I planned, depending on what all studying I will have to do.

I just found out this afternoon that I will be across the street with Gina, Kent & Steven for Christmas dinner so since Adam, Judy and I will be there for Christmas. This ole gal will really go all out for T-Day as I love cooking all those things and will only have a small part if the cooking of Christmas dinner. Gotta have my "big meal" fix lol.
I will do turkey and MAYBE a ham too since Adam really likes it, both mash potatoes and my sweet potato concoction, HM mac & cheese, green beans, green peas, fruit salad, rolls possibly crescent rolls rather than brown & serve ones but not sure there. I know I am forgetting something, we always have LOTS left over which I intentionally do. Part will go in freezer for future meals. Oh deserts lets see Pumpkin pie, sweet potato pie, banana bread (can not do nuts anymore GRRR!

This is my year to cook Thanksgiving dinner and host my husband's parents. On the "bye year" we go to my sister's--I think she cooks for a solid week.

I will do a whole turkey, since the kids like the drumsticks. They might have to fight Grandpop for them, though! Maybe I'll buy an extra couple of drums if I see them.

The turkey will be stuffed with the traditional family stuffing recipe that has been passed down from my grandmother. Sausage meat, onions and poultry seasoning flavor the stuffing.

Of course there will be mashed potatoes. I peel the potatoes; DH mashes them. He's fabulous at getting the texture very creamy.

I will also make mashed turnips (rutabagas, really). For me, it's not Thanksgiving without it. I'll probably be the only one eating them.

There will be a green vegetable, either green beans or broccoli.

The rolls will be from my other grandmother's recipe.

Cranberry sauce will be Ocean Spray, the smooth kind, right out of the can, with the "can marks" on the sides.

I don't mess with the Thanksgiving menu. It's a big Nostalgia Feast for me, and a meal I love to cook.

I have NO idea what all we are having! My DD is hosting this year, and has assigned things to people. I only know that I've been assigned to put the Uncle Ben's Wild Rice together! LOLOL!! :D

I suspect there will be turkey and cranberry sauce and some kind of dressing, and my DS#1 will probably make his version of the venerable Green Bean Casserole. Godson probably will bring his Garlic-Cheese Mashed Potatoes, the recipe of which starts with "take 2 **heads** of garlic..."

No idea what DS#2 and his wife will bring, and no idea what SIL#1 will bring. But it will be good, no matter what all we have. The main things are that we will be together with family, we love each other, and we care about what's going on with each other.

It may not be Christmas yet, but for the Feast of Thanksgiving, I can only echo Tiny Tim - "May God Bless Us Every One!" :):):)

Cheerio!

Ewriggs, that is an interesting way to have a holiday meal. I would like your Godson's garlic mashed potatoes as I LOVE garlic! lol

Since my DS will be coming, we are going to have:
pork roast
mashed potatoes
green bean casserole
bran freezer rolls (http://www.momsmenu.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18)
tossed green salad
dump cake

I've got to check on my turkey tomorrow. I hope it's coming along in the "defrosting" department. Generally I brine the turkey for 24 hours before roasting it. It helps to keep the turkey very moist.

3 shopping days until Thanksgiving and I am SO not ready. I have no potatoes, no rutabagas, not enough onions....certainly not enough bread--and I have to get it "stale." BUT I know it will all get done.
