We probably all serve a combination of these things over the course of a month--but what's the most common type of dinner that you serve?

It depends on whether or not DH is here with me since we live apart so much. When he is here, he likes steak or hamburgers, the latter being his favorite. He likes to have greenbeans and potatoes with them. When it is just me, I can live on pinto beans and cornbread or homemade soup. DH also likes my Poppyseed chicken recipe the best, but it is so much work that I don't make it as often as he would like. lol

I chose the "separate courses" option as well. Maybe it's because I was not raised on casseroles. I always cut the recipes out for a delicious looking casserole, but rarely cook them. Instead, I wind up making a meat, vegetable and starch course.

Love my meat & potatoes best
Cassaroles always seem to take so long to put together & I'm always short of time. I like them & so does half the family but only have time on weekends which is often just dh & I. Seems like to much trouble then.

I usually serve seperate courses because my teenage children prefer it that way. I prefer casseroles though. I don't make them as often as I'd like to because I'm the only one that usually eats them.

I'm in the minority then. I make more casseroles than anything else. They are actually faster than meat & potatoes.
I can layer pork chops in the bottom of a casserole pan, slice an onion on that, pour frozen veggies on, then dump a can of mushroom soup over it. From then on it's family preference. We like saurkraut on top, but I've also put crushed potato chips, crackers or a boxed stuffing (mixed but not cooked). Pop in oven...... that's it. Maybe takes 6 minutes to put together and I don't have to stir or watch it.
So simple.

I don't make as many casseroles now that I am away at college because I have a tiny oven. However, when I am at home where my big oven is, I double or triple casserole recipes and freeze the extras. That saves time for me.

DeBora, I always mean to do that, but it's never happened. Wish I could remember to do that. Maybe I don't have enough ingredients to make more than one at a time. ??? ????

We normally do the three course meal, but as far as the meat part we substitute something for that or do a meatless meal. Beans and rice, chicken breast, and fish. We also do lots of veggie, and potato meals and skip the meat altogether.

We usually have almost all of those options from time to time except not often breakfast foods for dinner. That is a rare occasion. We usually have chicken, fish or some kind of meat like beef or pork cooked in several different ways, either rice or potatoes and all different kinds of vegetables. (my dks are not fond of the nights I serve brussle sprouts or lima beans LOL but I try to serve a wide variety of veggies). I do make casseroles once a week or so if I have time. I love homemade soups and stews so do that occasionally too but usually in the fall and winter months.

We eat a lot of chicken & turkey. Next would be pork & once in a while beef. Oh yes! How could I forget fish! We all love pasta too! We have potatoes 4 times a week---all kinds of different vegetables dishes with each meal.

Basically meat and 3 veg but we do a combination of all of those over the month. My family are all good vegetable eaters.
I could eat bacon and egg on toast any time of the day any day of the week LOL must be followed by a cup of english breakfast tea.
