1 - 2 cups chopped fresh tomatoes (depending on how hot you like it)
1 chopped onion
1 halapenio pepper, chopped finly
1 hot banana pepper, chopped finely
Lots of fresh cilantro from garden
(Also can use the green coriander seeds from the cilantro plant)

Jo-Anne, that really sounds good and easy! This may sound weird, but this is just mixed together ,not cooked at all right?

Yep, just mixed. I just made it and it is pretty good. I added a tsp of salt and a 1/8 tsp of garlic powder. It was really hot, though. I bet it will taste good on corn chips! To be honest, I'm not sure the cilantro can be tasted over the hotness -- maybe I just don't know what cilantro tastes like???? In any case, it was nice that I could make something tastey from my very first garden!

What all are you growing in your garden? Sounds like it is doing very well. Since we have only lived here going on 4 years my new garden is only 3 years old and some of the raised beds are only 1 year old so I have a long way to go on getting them composted and all the way they should be. Isn't gardening and having your own veggies so rewarding!

Hi!

If nobody mind, the tomato is not the vegetable that is going to make the salsa hot rather it is the Jalapeno. When I make mine I usually make it with onion. If you want to be able to taste the cilantro then adjust it slowly according to taste. You can make a layer salsa. Bean dip on the bottom; sour cream; salsa; then cheddar cheese. There you have chips dip.

cat lover,
Yes, the problem was fixed.

Have you ever tried chopping Jalapeno and then rub your eye by mistake?
I usually wear a glove to take the seeds out then let my blender do the chopping.

Great! Glad it is fixed!

Yes, except I've done one worse! I went to the bathroom and didn't think about having just cleaned a bunch with no gloves on! Don't think I have to go in more detail, but will tell you I was dancing around and yelling alot for quite awhile and will NEVER forget that LOL;)

I like to make Armadillo Eggs, which is an appitizer. They are stuffed jalapenos with cream cheese, wrapped with bacon. They are baked. Once I didn't wear gloves and they literally burned the skin on my hands! I have worn gloves ever since because I usually do about 2 pounds of jalapenos.

Have ever thought about washing your hands with yogurt or milk after handling jalapenos to see if that helps?

I did that once but not with jalapeno; I have done same mistake again but tend to do same mistake about rubbing my eyes.

I use alot of cilantro in summer and even with salsa, I wait and add it at the last minute because it only seems to have full flavor when it is super fresh. Pays to have a pot of it growing outside the kitchen door lol.
