5 tsp salt
2 tsp Old Bay seasoning
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp MSG
1/2 tsp white sugar
1/4 tsp graound cayenne pepper
3 tbsp olive oil

Stir all dry ingredients together. Add oil and mix well. Brush onto crabs that you have steamed right before serving. Makes enough for 8 servings

This part is not Joe's Crab Shack recipe; it is how I steam carbs in case you don't have a steamed crab recipe to use with the above seasoning

Steamed Crabs

Live Crabs
water
1 cup apple cider vinegar
1 beer

Fill bottom of steamer with a couple inches of water. Add about 1 cup of the vinegar. Pour in the beer. Heat until boiling rapidly. Add live crabs ( never cook dead crabs).Steam crabs about 25 minutes, until red (not pink). You can test for doneness by trying the meat in one of the crab legs, although 25 minutes is usually sufficient.

Are the steps to make Joe's BBQ Crab?:

1. Steam the dungeness.

2. Dredge the crab in the "rub".

3. Deep fry the crab in peanut oil.

Or are the steps?

1. Dredge the crab in the "rub".

2. Deep fry the crab in peanut oil.

Do my questions make sense? And, if so, how long do you deep fry the crab?

Any answer will be much appreciated.

According to the recipe I have posted above you steam the crabs first and then rub them with the combined rub ingredients that you have added the oil to, right before you serve them. There is no frying involved in the recipe. Did that help?
