Kenny & Vaviel Orr have cooked peppers in different ways for years and love the flavor of the Jalapeno. They have tried the pickled and
canned peppers, but always preferred the fresh ones. In their griddle the fresh Jalapeno takes on a new and exciting spicy, yet milder
roasted flavor. Combined with the sweetness of the cheese and the saltiness of the tortilla chips, you will find yourself addicted.
Upon adding salsa or sour cream, there are no boundaries. Remember to use caution or you just might skip a meal to enjoy a full griddle
of cheese-filled Jalapeno peppers.
I am a huge hot pepper fan and thought I would give one of these griddles a try. What a great product!
The perfect pepper shaped indents of the Sizzling Pepper Griddle makes creating stuffed peppers a breeze. No more floppy peppers to try
and scoop off of a flat griddle or cookie sheet. The pepper corer that was included for my review also made preperation of the chili peppers
I used an easier chore. I follwed on of Kenny and Vaviel's recipes (see below), using cream cheese as my selection. Yum!
Sizzling Cheese Peppers
Ingredients:
8 or 10 Jalapeno Peppers
6 to 8 oz. White American cheese (Optional, Cheddar, Monterey Jack, or other cheeses, etc.)
Salt to taste
Cooking Oil (Olive, Peanut, Vegetable, etc.) Spray works well
Tortilla chips (Tostitos Brand White Corn Restaurant Style work well)
Salsa and Sour Cream (Optional)
Instructions:
Pre heat your new Sizzling Pepper Griddle on the stove (Electric, Gas, or Barbeque grill) to Medium high. Oil the griddle using your choice of
oil. Salt peppers, place cheese inside peppers and put into pre-heated griddle for approximately 5 to 7 minutes until peppers have browned and
cheese has melted.
Serve peppers upside-down on plate of tortilla chips. Allow some cooling time before eating. Top with Salsa and sour Cream for added taste.
Don't forget to refill your griddle with additional peppers. One serving is never enough. To spice'em up, use Pepper Jack or Mexican melting
cheese with Jalapeno's.
Note: If the griddle does not fit your gas burner use a small wire rack between the griddle and burner.
Remember: Always select fresh Jalapeno Peppers without blemishes, bright in color, smooth skin, large in size. Always use some type of glove to protect your hands while cleaning peppers. Prepare peppers by removing stems, washing in cool water, placing in colander to allow drying. Cut in half, lengthwise. Use a small apple corer, a knife or a spoon works well, to remove all seeds and veins, creating bowls with the peppers. Store cleaned peppers in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Select the type of cheese to use for your filling. Cut in pieces sized to fill pepper halves and store refrigerated in airtight container.
