    CheeseburgerBites Cheeseburger Bites

Prep 20 minutes Bake 16 minutes

    Tools you'll need:
    Measuring cups
    Measuring spoons
    Baking sheet
    Aluminum foil
    Large bowl
    Oven mitts
    Wire cooling rack
    Instant-read thermometer
    Cutting board
    2-inch round cookie cutter
    Sharp knife
    16 long cocktail toothpicks

    Food you'll need:
    1 & 1/4 pounds extra-lean ground beef
    1/4 cup ketchup, Heinz®
2 tablespoons meat loaf seasoning, McCormick®
    1 package (7-ounce) sunburst-shape cheese snacks, Sargento®
    8 hamburger buns, presplit
    Iceberg lettuce leaves
6 tablespoons Thousand Island salad dressing
    16 cherry tomatoes
    16 pickle chips

    Here's what you do:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Line baking sheet with aluminum foil; set aside. In a large bowl, mix ground beef, ketchup, and meat loaf seasoning with wet clean hands until well combined. Form into 16 patties slightly larger than 2 inches wide. Place patties on prepared baking sheet. Wash hands well. Place baking sheet in preheated oven. Bake for 14 to 16 minutes. Using oven mitts, remove from oven. Place on a wire rack. Top each patty with a cheese snack. Using oven mitts, return baking sheet to oven. Bake about 2 minutes more or until burgers are done* (160 degrees F) and cheese has melted. Using oven mitts, remove baking sheet from oven. Place on a wire rack. While the burgers cook, arrange halves of hamburger buns on a cutting board, cut sides up. Using a 2-inch round cookie cutter, cut mini buns from the large hamburger buns. Have an adult use a sharp knife to chop lettuce leaves into pieces about 2 inches wide. To assemble cheeseburgers, top bottoms of mini buns with lettuce, a patty, and about 1 teaspoon Thousand Island salad dressing. Add bun tops. Skewer 1 cherry tomato and 1 pickle chip on each of 16 long cocktail toothpicks; push through the centers of assembled burgers.

*Note: For burgers, meatballs, and other pieces of meat, have an adult help you check the temperature with an instant-read thermometer. The meat is done when the temperature reaches the number written in each recipe, such as 160 degrees F (above).
