IMAGE 101 Easy Peasy Cookie Recipes
Reviewed by Cindy Sanchez

The book jacket states "Written in an easy-to-follow, conversational tone, the 101 Easy Peasy Cookie Recipes cookbook contains recipes so simple that bakers of all levels will enjoy making cookie after delectable cookie." And while I am not sure why "converational tone" was included as a description, I have to agree with the "easy-to-follow" and "simple" makeup of the recipes.

101 Easy Peasy Cookie Recipes gets right down to the task at hand...baking cookies. There are no extras added to this cookbook, just a solid variety of cookie recipes. The recipes are broken down into five categories; Bar Cookies, Drop Cookies, No-Bake Cookies (great for kids to try), Rolled Cookies and Shaped Cookies.

With 101 recipes, ranging from the familiar to the unique, to choose from, you are sure to find something that strikes your fancy. Although pictures for some, if not all, of the recipes would have been appreciated by this baker, this cookbook is a kitchen keeper.

Recipe tried from cookbook:

IMAGE Colossal Double Chocolate White Chip Cookies

4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/2 cups butter or margarine, softened
1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
1 1/4 cups packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 cup milk semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup white chips
1 cup chopped nuts

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a medium bowl, stir together flour, baking powder, and baking soda. In a large bowl, cream together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Beat eggs and vanilla extract into butter mixture. Gradually stir in flour mixture. Stir in milk chocolate chips, semi-sweet chocolate chips, white chips, and nuts. Drop by level 1/4-cupfuls, about 2 inches apart, onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake for 12 to 14 minutes or until light golden brown. Allow cookies to cool for 2 minutes on baking sheets, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.

Makes about 2 dozen cookies.

Children's meals have to be easy, delicious and nutritious. Getting kids to eat vegetables is a major task. Finding a way to get vegetables into the mouths of kids is easy if they are part of the fun. Creating ways to get kids to help with the preparation and the cooking of kids' recipes is part of the fun.
