Brunswick Stew

2 Tbls Bacon Grease (or Shortening)
1 Frying Chicken (About 2 to 2 ½ pounds)
2 Onions
3 Cups of Water
3 Tomatoes (Peeled and Quartered)
½ Cup Sherry
2 Tbls Butter

½ Cup Bread Crumbs
2 tsps Worcestershire Sauce
1 Pound Fresh Lima Beans (Frozen Beans are OK)
Salt and Pepper (To Taste)
½ Cup Okra (Optional)
3 Ears Fresh Corn (Cut kernels from the ears)(Frozen Corn is OK)

Chop or slice the Onion and brown it in the Bacon Grease; then add the Chicken which has been cut into small pieces and seasoned. When the Chicken is done, pour off the grease and put the Chicken and Onion into a Dutch Oven (or large pot). Add the Water, Tomatoes, the Sherry and Worcestershire Sauce. Cook over a low flame for ½ Hour. Then add the Lima Beans, Okra and the Corn. Let simmer for 1 Hour, then add the Butter and Bread Crumbs and cook ½ Hour longer. Serve with thick slices of Buttered Bread or Crackers.
