Bavarian Apple Torte 8-10 servings1/2 cup margarine 1/3 cup sugar 1/4 tsp. vanilla 1 cup flour * * * * * 1- 8 oz. pkg. Philadelphia cream cheese, cubed 1/4 cup sugar 1 egg 1/2 tsp. vanilla * * * * * 1/3 cup sugar 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 4 cups sliced peeled apples 1/4 cup sliced almonds ----------------------------- Heat oven to 450F. Cream margarine, sugar, & vanilla. Blend in flour. Spread dough on bottom & 1 1/2" high around sides of 9" spring-form pan. Combine softened cream cheese & sugar; mix well. Add egg & vanilla; mix. Pour into pastry- lined pan. Combine sugar & cinnamon. Toss apples in sugar mixture. Spoon apples over cream cheese layer; sprinkle with nuts. Bake at 450F, 10 minutes. Reduce temperature to 400F; continue baking 25 minutes. Loosen torte from rim of pan; cool before removing rim of pan.
