Momma's Caramel CakeFlour, (2 ¼) cups
Baking powder, (1) tblsp
Canning salt, (1) tsp
Sugar, (1) cup
Fresh sweet milk, (1) cup
Caramelized syrup, (1/3) cup
Almond extract, (1) tsp
Shortening, (1/2) cup
Large brown eggs, (2) beaten
Line with waxed paper, (2) 8" layer cake pans, and pour in the batter.
Cook in gas oven (30) minutes at 350 degrees.
Momma's Caramel Frosting
Fresh churned butter, (6) tblsp
Large brown egg yolk, (1) beaten
Sugar, (2) cups
Boiling fresh spring water, (2) cups
Syrup, (5) tblsp (Hersheys Caramel)
Sifted powder sugar, (4) cups
Almonds, (1) tsp
Pure sweet CREAM, (2) tbsp
Mix well.
Hickory nuts, (1) cup, sprinkle over top
