any useable portions. While vegetables may be too old to cook and eat, you can use them to make vegetable broth to add more flavor to future recipes. Just be sure to peel veggies and remove the softer parts before boiling with water. Remember that flavor adders such as garlic, onions, and bell peppers aren't good for broths because they either fall apart or add a strong flavor to the broth as the broth sits. I do this with my old carrots, celery, and potatoes and feel better about not wasting what I've bought. |
