Strawberry-Buttermilk Salad

1 package strawberry jello -- (6 ounce)
1 can crushed pineapple -- (20 ounce)
undrained
2 cups buttermilk
1 cup chopped pecans
1 carton Cool Whip -- (9 ounce)

Mix jello and pineapple with juice in a large saucepan on low heat until jello dissolves. DO NOT BOIL! Cool. Mix in buttermilk, nuts, and Cool Whip until blended well. Pour into a 9x13-inch glass dish or pan. Refrigerate until firm.
