German Bar Cookies

2 C brown sugar
4 eggs
2 C flour
1/2 teaspoon Salt
1/2 teaspoon cloves
1/2 C oatmeal (quick cooking variety)
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 C nuts, chopped
1 C raisins, (Plumped)

1. Cream brown sugar and eggs, using mixer.

2. In large measure, mix flour, salt, cloves, oatmeal, cinnamon, vanilla,
nuts and raisins. Dough will be thick and sticky.

3. Spray or grease a 12" X 18" cookie sheet (with sides) Pour batter into
pan and using a spatula, spread evenly.

4. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Remove from oven while hot and spread
with icing.

ICING:
3 C powdered sugar
3 Tablespoon butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
5-8 Tablespoon canned milk (more or less to desired consistency)

Blend well and spread over hot cookies above. When cool, cut into squares.
Store in covered container. Makes about 36-48 squares.
