Swedish Apple Pie

Click here for a printable version of this recipe

Filling:

2 to 2 ½ pounds Cortland apples, peeled cored and sliced (or any other firm baking/cooking apple)
1 Tbsp. Sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon

Crust:

¾ cup melted butter
1 egg
1 cup sugar
1 cup flour,
1 pinch of salt
½ cup chopped walnuts

Cooking Instructions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Layer sliced apples in the pie plate evenly, sprinkle with 1 Tbsp. sugar and 1 tsp. cinnamon.

Mix the crust ingredients together well in a medium bowl. Pour over apples, spreading evenly.

Bake for 45 minutes or until the top is golden brown and crisp.

Delicious hot or cold!

** I put a foil lined cookie sheet on the rack beneath the rack the pie will be baking on, to catch the juices that will sometimes bubble over the pie pan.**
