Home made vanilla exctact: place no less than 5-10 whole vanilla beans in a jar tall jar and cover with a neutral spirit such as vodka. Let stand for a month for the beans to flavor the spirit. This works well with fruits like rasberries and apricots, and other spirits like Gand Marnier or Bourbon.
