1/2 cup white sugar 1/2 cup white corn syrup 1/4 cup peanut butter (peanut butter and jelly kind is good also, but makes the bars a bit stickier so adjust the amount of cereal 1 tsp. vanilla 3 1/2 cups breakfast cereal, any kind, even mixed | | *Put sugar and corn syrup into a medium to large saucepan. Heat to boil on medium high heat. Lower heat and continue a rolling boil for one minute. Remove from heat and add vanilla and cereal. Mix just until cereal is well coated. Spoon out onto buttered cookie sheet and press lightly. Cool. (This recipe can be doubled and tripled with not much change to the texture. One can add nuts, raisins, chocolate chips, maraschino cherries, butterscotch chips, popcorn, or any other favorite snack or candy when the cereal is added. Adding a crumbled butter finger candy bar gives the bars an additional peanut buttery taste. Variation: Work quickly when spooning out the cooked mixture, press, and while hot, sprinkle chocolate chips over the top and spread. Let cool.) Enjoy!!!!!Submitted by Jana |
