Fruit and Cream Dessert

8 oz. can crescent roll dough
8 oz. pkg. softened cream cheese
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1/2 t. almond extract
21 oz. can fruit pie filling
1/2 c. flour
1/4 c. brown sugar
3 T. softened butter
1 (2.25 oz.)pkg. sliced almonds

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. separate dough into 2 long rectangles. Place in ungreased 13x9x2" pan. Press over bottom to form crust. Seal perforations. Bake for 5 min. Remove from oven.
In small bowl, combine cream cheese, sugar, and almond extract. Blend until smooth. Spread over dough. Spoon fruit filling evenly over cream cheese mixture.
In medium bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, and butter. Mix until crumbly. Stir in almonds. Sprinkle crumb mixture over fruit filling.
Return to oven and bake an additional 25 min. Cool. Cut into 12 squares. Serve with whipped topping if desired. Refrigerate leftovers.
