2 ounces baking chocolate, 1/2 cup shortening, 2 cups sugar, 4 eggs, 1/4 teaspoon salt, 1 cup flour, 1 cup nuts, 1 tablespoon vanilla | | | Melt chocolate and shortening over hot water. Allow to cool. Mix in remaining ingredients. Bake in greased 9-inch square pan for 45 minutes to 1 hour. Test for doneness with knife. Allow to cool completely before cutting into squares. |
